Who We Are
Punch Construction was started in 2000 by Darren Arnull, who now oversees all property renovations, home extensions, church work and listed building repairs. From the outset, his goal was to give a high-quality service for every job because each project is equally important to the customer.
Darren served his apprenticeship with one of the most respected and time-served building companies in Essex, working on prestigious and world-famous buildings around London, Essex and the South East.
During his apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery, he learned the traditional skill set that had been passed down from the 1800s, in each trade from lead to stonework.
After completing this apprenticeship and winning The Building Employers Confederation Shield for Advanced Craft Skills, Darren remained with the team and continued picking up new skills and fulfilling various challenges. He also worked on a range of listed buildings, where he found a passion for old properties and restoration work.
After running projects where he started out at the age of 16 and finishing his own restoration project, he realised it was time to go it alone. In 2000, he set up Punch Construction Ltd, which aids customers all over the local region.
Why Punch? Firstly, it’s due to his love for Ipswich town FC, which has a Suffolk punch horse on the badge, and secondly because of his mum who would say she was ‘pleased as punch’ (best tell her it’s for the second reason).
